Holocaust Doc 'The Commandant's Shadow' Trailer About Rudolf Höss

The Commandant's Shadow Doc Trailer

"Two lives. Two stories. One wall that divided them." Warner Bros has unveiled a trailer for a documentary film titled The Commandant's Shadow, arriving in theaters this summer. It's showing for two nights at the end of May before launching on VOD to watch at home. Witness the historic moment over 70 years after the Holocaust when the son of the Commandant of Auschwitz meets an incredible survivor. It introduces us to the real Rudolf Höss and his family, the exact same family seen in The Zone of Interest film from last year. The focus is on his 87-year-old son Hans Jürgen Höss, who has to reckon with his father's dark legacy. The film features original excerpts of Rudolf Höss' long-forgotten autobiography, written shortly before his execution. His words are the ultimate proof of what happened at Auschwitz, from the perpetrator himself, countering denial and ignorance of the Holocaust. This compelling documentary explores the relationships of a mother and her daughter, a father and his son, and the long shadows cast by the crimes that impact generations. It raises questions about love, guilt, and forgiveness, but is ultimately a much needed story of hope, acceptance, and compassion. A powerful reexamination of unforgettable history and how it haunts us.

First Look Teaser for Coppola's 'Megalopolis' Movie with Adam Driver

Megalopolis Teaser

"Time stop!!" The French distributor Le Pacte has released the first look teaser for Megalopolis, unveiling the very first reveal of any actual footage from this intriguing new movie. Megalopolis is director Francis Ford Coppola's latest ambitious project, a $100M+ feature that he has been trying to make ever since he first conceived the film in 1979. The basic setup is: an architect wants to rebuild New York City as a utopia following a devastating disaster. It's not actually NYC, but a giant city like NYC hence the Megalopolis title. The architect's plan is opposed by the mayor, who has other ideas for the city. It's premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in the Main Competition in a few weeks (we'll be there!), which is why France gets to kick off the marketing. The Megalopolis ensemble cast includes Adam Driver as Caesar, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Jason Schwartzman, Talia Shire, Grave Vanderwaal, Kathryn Hunter, and Dustin Hoffman. This teaser is just one scene from the film with Adam Driver on top of a building (that looks like the Chrysler Building) & that's it so far.

Classic Trailer Rewatch: Tim Burton's 'Mars Attacks!' Sci-Fi Comedy

Mars Attacks! Classic Trailer

"They blew up Congress! Haha!" Do you remember this one? Or do you remember not going to see this one? Back in '96, one of the hotly anticipated movies of the year was Tim Burton's wacky sci-fi comedy Mars Attacks! He'd just directed Ed Wood before and everyone was waiting to see him take that zaniness and make his own alien comedy, opening in December before the holidays. But perhaps he went a bit too zany? Because this one bombed and most people hated it. The film is a parody of other sci-fi B movies. Earth is invaded by Martians with unbeatable ghastly weapons and a cruel sense of humor. Produced & directed by Tim Burton, but not written by him. Starring Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Martin Short, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael J. Fox, and Danny DeVito, among others. The filmmakers hired ILM to create the Martians using computer animation after their previous plan to use stop motion, supervised by Barry Purves, fell through because of budgeting issues. Even these trailers aren't that exciting, an early sign the movie wouldn't live up to the hype. Perhaps it deserves a fresh new look now?

New Trailer for Tom Tykwer's 'Run Lola Run' 4K Re-Release This Year

Run Lola Run Re-Release Trailer

"Every second of every day you make a choice that can change your life." Sony Classics posted an updated 2024 official trailer for the 4K re-release of this German classic Run Lola Run, which originally debuted in 1998 some 26 years ago. Anyone who loves cinema already knows and has seen this movie, and it's still as thrilling & exciting to watch today as it was back then. It played at Sundance 1999 (and won the Audience Award there) and also screened at the 1998 Venice & Toronto Film Festivals. After her boyfriend botches a money handover, Lola has 20 minutes to bring 100,000 DM to him or he robs a store. If the money is not returned, there will be consequences. We see three possible scenarios, depending on Lola's encounters. She races through the streets of Berlin to find the money and bring it to him on the other side of the city before it's too late. Franka Potente and Moritz Bleibtru star in Tykwer's kinetic Berlin thriller. While the film initially premiered 26 years ago, they're celebrating the 25th anniversary of its original US opening in 1999. Roger Ebert gave the film 3 stars in his original review: "I would not want to see a sequel to the film, and at 81 minutes it isn't a second too short, but what it does, it does cheerfully, with great energy, and very well."

Review: David Leitch's 'The Fall Guy' is a Stunt-Filled Blast and a Half

The Fall Guy Review

Making movies these days seems even more challenging than ever. Throwing tons of money at and/or hiring the most famous actors doesn't automatically make a movie good. It doesn't even mean that the movie will be (financially) successful anymore. One of the greatest challenges of successful filmmaking is balancing all of the artistic elements in just the right way - it has to have a great script, actors with the right chemistry not to meniton strong performances, striking visuals, the right pacing, everything else. This isn't easy to pull off. Sometimes a filmmaker does get it just right and it makes for blissful entertainment. The Fall Guy is one of those movies. I am so glad that it lives up to its potential, to all the early hype, and lives up to the concept itself - which is meant to shine light on all of the behind-the-scenes stuntman / stuntwoman work that goes into making action movies. Even though this is technically a remake / movie version of the 1980s TV series of the same name, it feels like a singular work designed by stuntmen as a fun-for-everyone summer smash. It also feels like a landmark moment in teaching audiences about how their favorite movies are really made.

Another 'Sneak Peek' Trailer for JLo's Mech Suit Sci-Fi Thriller 'Atlas'

Atlas Featurette

"Bring Atlas Shepherd into this op is a spectacularly awful idea." Netflix has debuted another new trailer labeled as a "sneak peek" for the Atlas movie, starring Jennifer Lopez. Arriving to watch streaming on Netflix later this May. We've already posted two official trailers for this movie so far. Will another convince anyone to watch? Atlas is set in a bleak future, where an A.I. soldier has determined that the only way to end war is to end humanity. Lopez plays a data analyst with a deep distrust of A.I., who is taken on a mission to capture a renegade robot. When plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it. Co-starring Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, & Mark Strong. Another artificial intelligence-related sci-fi movie, since it's the big tech trend of the moment, there have to be movies about it. This one seems a bit awkward with JLo having to to learn to "trust" her AI software known as "Smith" but let's see… At least it looks cool! Will the rest of it be any good?

Full Trailer for 'Uncle Samsik' Dramatic Series Starring Song Kang-ho

Uncle Sam-Sik Trailer

"The world has changed." Disney+ has revealed an official trailer for a series titled Uncle Samsik, another intriguing Korean streaming series launching on Disney+ in Korea soon. It's a 1960s-set tale of two men, their pride, greed and bromance. Created and directed by Shin Yeon-shick. Starring Song Kang-ho, Byun Yo-han, Lee Kyu-hyung, Jin Ki-joo, and Seo Hyun-woo. It is Song Kang-ho's first drama series since his debut. Set in the turbulent backdrop of the 1960s, the series depicts the passionate desire and bromance between Uncle Samsik who "ate three meals a day even during the war" and super-elite Kim San, who write a story of love, trust, or doubt. Song Kang-ho stars as Uncle Samsik - Kim San's partner whom he meets and commits that they will achieve their dreams together. Byun Yo-han co-stars as Kim San, an elite graduate from the Korean Military Academy. He changed his major to economics while training in the United States and returns home with a dream of making Korea an industrial country. This seems like a much more serious and dramatic story about greed and arrogance than what Disney+ usually producers (in Korea). Take a look.
